The home of "Superman", Metropolis is located on the southern end of Illinois, on the Kentucky border, along the Ohio River. It's population is 6734 with approximately 3137 families. It is positioned 37.15 degrees
north of the equator and 88.71 degrees west of the prime meridian. The zip code is 62960.
Illinois' oldest state park, Fort Massac State Park, features a replica of the fort built in 1794. The city has adopted Superman as its favorite son and holds an annual celebration in his honor.
Robert F. Stroud, "The Birdman of Alcatraz" is buried in the Masonic Cemetary in Metropolis.
